Full day · about 10 hours
Ouzoud Waterfalls
Yes — Ouzoud is the tallest waterfall in North Africa, dropping about 110 metres in stages through a green gorge roughly 170 km northeast of Marrakech. You can walk down to the pools, take a short boat ride to the base, and watch wild macaques in the olive groves along the path.
- The 110 m falls, seen from the top and the base
- Wild Barbary macaques in the olive groves
- A short boat ride into the spray at the foot of the falls
- Lunch on a terrace overlooking the water
- Old olive mills still working beside the path
Full day · about 8 hours
Ourika Valley
Ourika is the closest mountain escape to Marrakech — a green river valley in the Atlas foothills, about an hour from the city. You can walk to the Setti Fatma waterfalls, visit a Berber home and an argan cooperative, and eat beside the river where the air is far cooler than the medina.
- The Atlas foothills within an hour of Marrakech
- A walk towards the Setti Fatma waterfalls
- Mint tea in a Berber family home
- A women's argan oil cooperative on the road up
- Riverside lunch, several degrees cooler than the city
Long day · about 12 hours
Ouarzazate & Ait Ben Haddou
Yes, but it is a long day. You cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, spend time in the UNESCO-listed ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, and see Ouarzazate’s film studios before driving back. Expect around 12 hours door to door — many travelers prefer to continue into the desert instead.
- The Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2,260 m
- The UNESCO World Heritage ksar of Ait Ben Haddou
- Kasbah Taourirt in Ouarzazate
- The Atlas film studios
- Argan cooperatives and mountain viewpoints on the drive
Full day · about 9 hours
Imlil & the High Atlas
Imlil sits at around 1,740 m at the foot of Mount Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak, about 90 minutes from Marrakech. It is the best day trip if you want to walk: village paths through walnut groves, mule tracks, and lunch in a Berber house with the mountains right above you.
- The trailhead village for Mount Toubkal
- Walks through walnut groves and terraced fields
- Lunch in a Berber family home
- Optional mule ride to a viewpoint
- Kasbah du Toubkal and the valley panorama
Full day · about 11 hours
Essaouira
Essaouira is roughly 175 km west of Marrakech, about two and a half hours each way. The drive crosses the argan forest, where you can stop at a women’s cooperative. You get several hours in the walled medina, the fishing port and the ramparts before heading back.
- The UNESCO-listed walled medina and ramparts
- The working fishing port and its blue boats
- A women’s argan oil cooperative on the way
- Wide Atlantic beach and seafood lunch
- Thuya woodwork and artists' studios in the medina
Long day · about 12 hours
Chefchaouen
Yes. Chefchaouen is about 200 km north of Fes, roughly four hours each way through the Rif Mountains. That leaves you three to four hours in the blue city — enough for the medina, Uta el-Hammam square and the Spanish Mosque viewpoint at a relaxed pace.
- The blue-washed lanes of the medina
- Uta el-Hammam square and the kasbah
- The Spanish Mosque viewpoint over the valley
- Rif Mountain scenery on the drive
- Wool and craft workshops in the old town

We took a five-day private tour in Marrakech and traveled through the Atlas, Merzouga, the Anti Atlas, and Fez.With a huge smile, Said arrived on time to take us up from our Marrakesh Riad and assisted us with our stuff to a neighboring vehicle. The vehicle was immaculate, and its sturdy wheels could handle light off-roading, the desert, and even snow (yes, snow has fallen in Ifrane!).Said, our guide, drove us perfectly while informing us about the locations we stopped and providing some intimate details about life in the Berber community. His extensive knowledge added a layer of enlightenment to our journey. The vehicle was not just immaculate, but also versatile, with sturdy wheels that could handle light off-roading, the desert, and even snow (yes, snow has fallen in Ifrane!). 100% Suggested My flights were scheduled two days in advance, and I appreciate that Mohamed got back to me and tailored a schedule that included everything I wanted to see and do in Morocco! Morocco has captured my heart, and I will return for further tours!Mohamed became my part-time photographer in addition to being an excellent driver! His service had a significant positive impact on my experience. What occurs when you travel alone. I only have wonderful things to say and have made some really special memories. Gratitude for everything, Morocco Day Tour.

I highly recommend Morocco Day Tour. They responded to all of my queries quickly and thoroughly. We had unique criteria for our private tour because we were traveling with my elderly mother, and they could not have been more flexible with our demands. Mohamed, our guide, was simply fantastic. He took excellent care of us, demonstrating humor and friendliness throughout the day.The trip was an intriguing and unique experience. We stopped at an argan oil cooperative, a bustling market, a lovely waterfall, and a neighborhood family for a delectable meal. Our day excursion turned out to be the most memorable part of our Marrakech vacation, as we all felt upon returning to our hotel after passing through some breathtaking countryside.
