8 Days Trip from Tangier to Marrakech

Today we travel via Tetouan and the Rif Mountains, enjoying the breathtaking mountain vistas, before reaching Chefchaouen — one of the most beautiful towns anywhere, nestled at the base of the Rif.

In the medina, an old-fashioned plaza is ringed by quirky art and craft shops, rooftop cafés, and restaurants where you can spend the evening in comfort, admiring the natural beauty and the cool mountain air.

After a delectable breakfast at the riad, we set off for Volubilis via Ouazzane and the villages of the Rif. We explore the Roman ruins and dig into Moroccan history and culture.

Then we drive to Meknes, a city rich in 17th-century history, where we stop for lunch. We visit the shrine of Moulay Ismail, the old city walls, and Bab el-Mansour. Later in the day, we continue to Fes and spend the night there.

Today we stroll the alleys and lanes of one of Morocco’s oldest cities. The first stops are the Royal Palace gate and the Mellah — the first Jewish quarter built in Morocco, in the 16th century.

We make sure you see all the historical and cultural sites: the renowned Al Karaouine University — the oldest in the region — the tomb of Moulay Idriss, the Attarine Museum, and the tanneries. After lunch, we visit the tile cooperative and finish with a magnificent panoramic view over the whole medina of Fes.

After breakfast at the hotel, we travel towards Merzouga via Errachidia and Erfoud. The route crosses the breathtaking Tizi n’Talghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, and as you approach Errachidia, the first signs of the desert appear. Enjoy lunch at Zaida and the warmth of the Berber people.

We then drive down the Ziz Valley, stopping for breathtaking vistas en route to Rissani, with its renowned market, and Erfoud, the famous city of fossils. In the late afternoon, Merzouga welcomes you with the pleasant flavour of mint tea before your camel ride begins. You spend the night in a desert tent, with Berber music and sandboarding.

We rise early to see the sun come up over the Erg Chebbi dunes, then ride camels back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower.

Leaving the desert, we follow the Saghro mountains, then take a walk through the Todra Gorge before reaching the Dades Valley for supper and the night at a small hotel or riad in the gorges.

After breakfast at the hotel, you travel through the Dades Valley towards Ouarzazate and Kalaa M’Gouna, following the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. We visit Ouarzazate, the city of movies, and the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah — the largest in Morocco, linked to Thami El Glaoui in the late 19th century and now a UNESCO site.

Then we cross the High Atlas mountains, taking in the breathtaking scenery and charming Berber communities, until we reach Marrakech, where we spend the night.

Today we explore Marrakech, “the red city of Morocco”. We make sure you see the most important historical and cultural sites: the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Majorelle Gardens, and the Koutoubia, among others.

After lunch at a local restaurant by the famous square, wander the souks, browse the handicrafts, and pick up some gifts. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore the city on your own.
