Cookies Policy
In short: we use one essential cookie of our own to keep our enquiry forms secure, plus Google's reCAPTCHA on those forms to block spam. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across the web.
This policy explains what cookies this website uses and why. Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device; some are essential for a site to work, others are used for measurement or advertising.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary — always on
- PHPSESSID — set only on pages that contain an enquiry form. It links your browser to a temporary session so we can protect the form against cross-site request forgery, a common attack that would otherwise let another website submit forms in your name. It contains a random identifier and nothing about you personally, and it expires when you close your browser.
Under UK and EU rules, cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for do not require your consent, so we do not ask permission for this one. Without it, our forms could not be kept secure.
Your cookie choice
When you make a choice in our cookie notice, we remember it using your browser's local storage rather than a cookie. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Analytics — off unless you allow it
We currently run no analytics or measurement cookies at all. If we add them in future to understand which pages are useful, they will be switched off by default and will only run if you turn them on in our cookie notice. We will update this page before that happens.
Advertising cookies — none
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not share data with advertising networks. We have no interest in following you around the internet.
Third-party content
Google reCAPTCHA. The "I'm not a robot" box on our enquiry forms is provided by Google. It loads only on pages with a form, and only once you reach that form, so it is never contacted while you are simply reading the site. When it does load, Google may set its own cookie (_GRECAPTCHA, on google.com) and receives your IP address and details of how you interacted with the page, which it uses to decide whether you are a person and to protect against abuse. We use it because without it our inbox fills with automated spam and real enquiries get lost. If you would prefer not to use it, contact us by email or WhatsApp instead — the details are on our contact page.
Google Maps. Some tour pages include a route map from Google. We deliberately do not load it automatically — the map only loads when you click "Load the route map". Until you click, Google sets no cookies and receives nothing from your visit. If you do click, Google's own privacy terms apply to that map.
WhatsApp and Tripadvisor. Our WhatsApp and Tripadvisor buttons are ordinary links. Nothing is shared until you click them and leave our site, at which point that company's own policies apply.
Fonts and images. Our fonts and images are served from our own website, not from a third-party content network, so no outside company is contacted to render our pages.
How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies through its settings, and you can clear locally stored data the same way. Blocking the strictly necessary cookie above may stop our enquiry forms from working, but the rest of the site will still be readable.
You can also change any choice you have made in our cookie notice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page.
