Is the Ouzoud waterfalls day trip worth it?

Ouzoud is the waterfall people picture when they think of Morocco: three tiers of water falling roughly 110 metres into a green gorge, framed by red rock and olive terraces. It sits in Azilal province, about two and a half hours from Marrakech through the Middle Atlas foothills.
You approach from the top, where the cafés and viewpoints look straight down the drop. From there a shaded path zigzags to the base, past small mills that still grind olives. At the bottom, wooden boats take you close enough to feel the spray.
The other reason people come is the wildlife. A troop of Barbary macaques lives in the olive groves beside the path — genuinely wild, entirely used to walkers, and best watched rather than fed.
