Overview
This fabulous 3-day desert tour takes you from Marrakech to Fes, with a camel trek and overnight camping deep in the sands (at a standard or luxury camp). You also visit the Todra and Dades Gorges, the Rose Valley, Ouarzazate, the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou, and Azrou.
In the morning, we cross the High Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, Morocco’s highest. On day two, we pass the Todra and Dades Gorges and reach the Merzouga Sahara in the late afternoon, where a camel guide leads you across the dunes to a Bedouin camp. You spend the night in the Merzouga desert and experience the tranquility of the Sahara. On day three, we continue to Fes through Midelt and the Azrou cedar forest.

Marrakech » Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate » Dades Valley [315 Km]
On this 3-day desert excursion through eastern Morocco, you travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned modern minibus. Our driver meets you at your Marrakech hotel at 8:00 am, and we drive into the Atlas mountains and down to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
The walled city actually holds six kasbahs, and the place is full of fascination — you’ll feel transported back to the days of desert nomads, gladiators, and ancient trading markets. After the sightseeing, you have breakfast at the kasbah.
We then visit Ouarzazate, commonly called “the Gateway to the Desert”, and admire the landscapes where blockbusters like The Mummy (1999), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Gladiator (2000), and Game of Thrones (2013) were filmed.
There’s time to stop at a café before heading to the Dades Valley. There, unwind in a private room at a traditional local riad with your own bathroom, and indulge in the culinary delights of a Moroccan evening meal.

In the morning, after breakfast, we head from the Dades Gorges towards the Erg Chebbi desert at Merzouga, passing Berber settlements scattered along the route. We cross Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, where you feel the first breath of the Tafilalet oasis. Then we arrive in Merzouga, where a guide and camels are waiting to carry you across the tallest dunes of Morocco’s Sahara.
You ride at sunset across the dunes to our nomad camp at Erg Chebbi, where drums echo through the desert. Dinner and your night are in a nomad tent.

Wake to a stunning sunrise from the top of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Breakfast is served at the camp, and you can shower before riding your camel back — or let us transfer you by 4×4 instead. It’s your decision.
With your Merzouga excursions complete, we set off for Fes via the Ziz Valley, Midelt, and Ifrane, known as Morocco’s little Switzerland, plus the famous Middle Atlas cedar forest at Azrou, where you can take an easy walk and photograph the Barbary apes. In the late afternoon, you arrive in Fes and reach your riad or hotel with unforgettable stories and memories.

In winter, temperatures drop sharply and nights can be freezing — please bring warm clothes to sleep in.
