Your excursion kicks off at our meeting point. From there, you follow the iconic Paris–Dakar rally route, crossing desert scattered with striking black volcanic stones, with a chance to visit the serene, seasonal Lake Merzouga.

Stop at Khamlia village to immerse yourself in the enchanting rhythms of Gnawa music and meet the local community. If you’d like to show your appreciation, consider tipping the musicians or buying a CD for around €10.

Just beyond the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes sits Mifis, a quaint, nearly deserted town known for its mineral mines — zinc, iron, and lead — worked since the days of the French colonial period.

We continue by 4×4 to meet the nomadic families living in Berber tents at the edge of the dunes, and explore the lush gardens of Hassi Labied village.

Merzouga itself is a quaint, dusty town at the edge of the Sahara, beside the largest dunes in Morocco. Despite its humble size, it’s a fantastic destination full of exciting activities, with charming places to stay, fine restaurants, and internet cafés.
