What is the best month for hiking in Morocco?
The best months for hiking in Morocco are April–May and September–October, when temperatures are comfortable, the high mountains are largely clear of snow, and the trails are neither baking nor frozen. These shoulder seasons give you long, pleasant days for the Atlas and the gorges.
Spring adds wildflowers and green valleys but can still have snow on the highest peaks like Toubkal early on; autumn offers stable, clear weather after the summer heat. Summer is too hot at low altitude but fine for high-altitude treks, while winter turns the peaks into a snow-and-ice challenge for the experienced.
For climbing Toubkal specifically, late spring through early autumn is ideal without full winter gear. Match your route’s altitude to the season, and April–May or September–October will serve almost any Moroccan hike well.
