Is Marrakech too hot to visit in July?

Marrakech in July is very hot — daytime highs regularly hit 38–42°C — but it’s still visitable if you plan around the heat rather than fighting it. Locals and savvy travellers rise early, sightsee in the morning, retreat to a shaded riad or pool through the fierce afternoon, and come out again in the cooler evening.

Stay somewhere with a plunge pool or good air-conditioning, drink plenty of water, wear light loose clothing and a hat, and keep the midday hours for the shade. The medina’s covered souks offer some relief, and gardens like the Majorelle are best early.

If you can’t bear extreme heat, consider a summer base on the coast (Essaouira or Agadir) with day trips inland, or shift your trip to spring or autumn. But with an early-and-late rhythm, a July visit to Marrakech is manageable and much cheaper.
