Itineraries & routing
Is it worth adding Tangier to a 10 day Morocco itinerary?
Adding Tangier to a 10-day Morocco itinerary is worth it if the north and Chefchaouen appeal to you, but it does pull you away from the Marrakech–desert–Fes core, so it’s a trade-off. Tangier shines as a gateway to Chefchaouen, Asilah and the Rif, and connects fast to Fes by Al Boraq train.
A strong 10-day route with Tangier might run Tangier and Chefchaouen in the north, down to Fes, across the desert to Merzouga, and finish in Marrakech. That’s ambitious but doable with the high-speed train doing the heavy lifting up north.
If your priority is the Sahara and imperial cities, you can happily skip Tangier and go deeper into the centre and south instead. Add it when the blue city and the northern coast are a real draw for you.
