Is Marrakech worth a long weekend from London?
Yes, Marrakech is a superb long-weekend break from London — it’s a direct flight of around 3.5 hours, feels a world away, and three or four days is plenty for the medina, gardens, souks, food and even a desert-edge day trip. Few destinations offer such a complete change of scene for a short break.
A typical long weekend: the Jemaa el-Fnaa and souks, the Bahia Palace and Saadian Tombs, the Majorelle and Secret Gardens, a hammam, rooftop dinners, and perhaps a day in the Atlas foothills or the Agafay desert. Stay in a riad for the full experience.
The short flight and one-hour (or same, seasonally) time difference make it easy to arrive Friday and be home Sunday or Monday refreshed. For the classic tall Sahara dunes you’d need longer, but for a rich city break, Marrakech is ideal.
