A realistic backpacking budget for Morocco is roughly €30–45 a day, covering a hostel or budget riad dorm, street and local-café food, and travel by train or CTM/Supratours bus. Morocco is affordable by European standards, and careful travellers manage on the lower end while still eating well.
That figure rises quickly if you add private riads, guided desert tours, car hire or lots of taxis — a mid-range trip is closer to €60–90 a day. Big one-off costs like a multi-day Sahara tour sit on top of your daily average, so budget those separately.
The cheapest days are in cities where you walk, eat local and use public transport; the priciest are travel days and organised excursions. Keep a cash buffer, as many budget places don’t take cards.
