What's a good Morocco itinerary without a rental car?
A great car-free Morocco itinerary uses trains between the big cities and an organised tour for the desert: for example Marrakech → (train) Casablanca/Rabat → Fes, then a guided 3-day desert tour to Merzouga finishing back in Marrakech or Fes. You get the highlights without ever needing to drive.
Trains handle Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech and Fes comfortably; Supratours and CTM buses cover Essaouira, Chefchaouen and desert gateways; and a private or small-group tour is the easiest way to reach the Sahara, since public transport there is slow. In-city, you walk and use petit taxis.
