What's the best time of year for the Todra Gorge?
The best times for the Todra Gorge are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), when temperatures are comfortable for walking and rock climbing and the river is pleasant. Summer is hot, though the high canyon walls give welcome shade, and winter is cold but clear.
In spring the palm groves are green and the weather is ideal; autumn offers stable, mild conditions after the summer heat. The narrowest part of the gorge, where 300 m cliffs nearly meet, stays cool and shaded even in warmer months.
Most people visit the Todra Gorge as a stop on a Marrakech–Merzouga desert tour rather than a standalone trip, so it slots into the wider best-season window of spring and autumn. Flash floods are a rare risk after heavy rain, so check conditions in wet spells.
