Can you kitesurf in Dakhla as a beginner?
Yes, Dakhla is one of the best places in the world to learn kitesurfing — its huge, flat, shallow lagoon offers safe, waist-deep water and reliable steady wind, exactly the conditions beginners need. Numerous kite schools and camps there run lessons and provide all the gear.
The lagoon’s flat water and consistent trade winds make progress fast and falls gentle, while the deep south location means it’s warm and windy for much of the year. Beginner courses typically run over several days at a dedicated kite camp.
The catch is that Dakhla is remote — far down Morocco’s Atlantic coast — so most people fly in and stay at a kite camp for a week rather than passing through. For a focused beginner kite holiday, though, it’s superb.
