Can toddlers do a camel ride in Morocco?
Toddlers can do a short camel ride in Morocco if an adult holds them securely, but a full desert camel trek is usually too long and jolty for very young children, so keep it brief. Many families let a toddler sit with a parent for a gentle few-minute ride rather than a lengthy dune trek.
The camel’s rise and fall as it stands and kneels is the trickiest moment, so a guide steadying the animal and a firm hold on your child are essential. Short rides in the Palmeraie or Agafay near Marrakech suit little ones better than a two-hour Erg Chebbi trek.
Use judgement about your child’s temperament and always follow the guide’s advice on safety. For a desert overnight with a toddler, a short symbolic ride plus time playing in the sand is often the happier plan.
