Is Marrakech medina stroller friendly?

The Marrakech medina is not very stroller-friendly — the lanes are narrow, uneven and crowded, with motorbikes, handcarts and steps, so a baby carrier or sling is far more practical than a pushchair. Manoeuvring a stroller through the souks is hard work and often means lifting it constantly.

A soft carrier keeps your hands free and your child close in the crush, and copes with the cobbles and steps that defeat wheels. If you do bring a stroller, a compact, rugged one is best, and you’ll still want to carry it in the busiest souks.

The newer Gueliz district and city parks have proper pavements where a stroller works fine. For the medina itself, though, plan to carry younger children rather than push them.
