Is there an exit tax when leaving Morocco?

There is no separate exit tax you pay in cash when leaving Morocco — any departure taxes are already included in your airline or ferry ticket, so you won’t be asked for money at the airport to leave. Travellers sometimes worry about this, but it’s built into your fare.

This means you don’t need to hold back dirhams for a departure fee, and you can spend or change your remaining cash before you fly. Just don’t try to leave with a large amount of dirhams, since the currency can’t be exported freely.

The only "costs" at departure are your own — snacks, last-minute shopping, or changing leftover money. Change dirhams back before security, where options are limited.
