Is the Al Boraq train worth it from Casablanca to Tangier?
Yes, the Al Boraq high-speed train is well worth it from Casablanca to Tangier — it covers the route in about two hours 10 minutes at up to 320 km/h, making it dramatically faster than driving or the old train, and it’s comfortable, modern and inexpensive. It’s Africa’s first high-speed line, and for this corridor it’s comfortably the best option.
First class buys you more space and a guaranteed seat for a small premium, but second class is perfectly pleasant. Book ahead on the ONCF website or app for the best fares and to be sure of a seat on busy departures.
The stations are modern and central-ish, though allow for a taxi at each end. If your itinerary links Tangier, Rabat and Casablanca, Al Boraq turns a long slog into an easy hop and is genuinely a highlight in its own right.
