Is Marrakech to Chefchaouen doable by car in one day?

Marrakech to Chefchaouen in one day by car is possible but hard — it’s roughly 550–600 km and around 7–8 hours of driving, so you’d spend almost the whole day behind the wheel with little to enjoy at either end. It’s doable if you must, but it’s not a pleasant way to travel.

A far better plan is to break the journey, most naturally with a night in Fes or Meknes, which sit roughly on the route and are worth visiting in their own right. That turns a gruelling transit into two manageable days with something to see.

If you’re set on doing it in one go, start at dawn, share the driving if you can, and avoid arriving in Chefchaouen’s hilly medina after dark. Otherwise, treat it as a two-day trip and you’ll enjoy both cities far more.
