How do grand taxis work between Moroccan cities?

Grand taxis are shared long-distance cars (usually older Mercedes or Dacia estates) that run fixed routes between towns, leaving when full — typically six passengers plus the driver — with each person paying a set per-seat fare. You find them at a taxi rank or "station" for the route you want, and you wait for the car to fill before it departs.

You can pay for extra seats if you want to leave sooner or have more room; buying all six seats effectively makes it a private taxi. Fares are standardised per route, but confirm the price before getting in so there’s no confusion.

They’re cheap, frequent and a genuinely local way to travel short-to-medium distances, especially where buses are infrequent. For longer hauls, though, a CTM/Supratours bus or the train is more comfortable and predictable.
