Is one day enough for Chefchaouen?

One day is enough to see the main sights of Chefchaouen — the blue medina is small and walkable, so you can cover Uta el-Hammam square, the kasbah, the blue lanes and the Spanish Mosque viewpoint in a full day. But staying a night is far better, because the town is at its most magical in the early morning and evening when the day-trippers have gone.

A day trip works if you’re based in Fes or Tangier and don’t mind the long drive each way, giving you three to four hours in town. That’s enough for the highlights and plenty of photos, but it feels rushed.

With an overnight you can wander the empty blue streets at dawn, watch the sunset from the Spanish Mosque, and enjoy the relaxed mountain-town pace that’s the whole point of Chefchaouen. If you can spare the night, take it.
