Is Ait Ben Haddou worth staying overnight?
Staying overnight near Ait Ben Haddou is worth it if you want to see the kasbah at sunset and sunrise without the day-trip crowds, when the earthen walls glow and the site is almost empty. Most visitors pass through on a desert tour, but an overnight rewards photographers and anyone wanting a quieter, more atmospheric experience.
There are guesthouses and kasbah hotels facing the ksar across the river, some with terraces perfectly placed for golden-hour views. Ouarzazate and its film studios are close by to fill the rest of the time.
If you’re on a fast-moving itinerary, a shorter daytime visit still captures the magic of this UNESCO site. But for the light, the calm and the setting, a night here is a lovely addition to a southern-Morocco route.
