Is Casablanca worth more than a single day?

For most travellers, Casablanca is worth about a day rather than more — its headline sight, the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, plus the Corniche, the old medina and a meal, fill a comfortable day, and the city is a modern commercial hub rather than a heritage showcase. One well-planned day captures the essentials.

The Hassan II Mosque alone justifies a stop; it’s one of the largest in the world and open to non-Muslims on a guided tour. Add the seafront, Rick’s Café, some Art Deco architecture and Moroccan food, and you’ve seen the best of it.

If you love big cities, architecture or want a slower pace, a second day is pleasant but not essential. Many people simply use Casablanca as an arrival or departure point, with a mosque visit slotted in on the way through.
