7 Days Tour from Casablanca

We meet you at your hotel or the airport in Casablanca and drive to Chefchaouen.

On the way, we stop at the Hassan Tower in Rabat before continuing to the blue city — one of the best starts to any Morocco Sahara tour. You spend the night in an authentic riad within the medina.

Day two is yours to explore the blue-painted alleys of Chefchaouen: the Souika quarter at the heart of the city, the Kasbah with its ethnographic museum, the lively Uta el-Hammam square, and the Al-Swaiqa district — with the Akchour waterfalls nearby if you fancy a hike. You stay overnight in a traditional riad.

After breakfast, you travel towards Fes via Ouazzane, stopping at the Roman site of Volubilis. This well-preserved outpost of the Roman Empire dates back to 225 BC, and you’ll see some of the most beautiful mosaics in Morocco, dating to the 3rd century BC.

A guided visit brings the Roman Empire and the history of the area to life.

We then travel to Meknes, the capital of Moulay Ismail, to see the Bab Mansour gate he built, the granary, and the Sahrij Souani basin once used for irrigation.

The day also includes the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. We then continue to Fes on the highway and stay overnight in a luxurious riad within the medina.

After breakfast, you start exploring Fes, “the spiritual city of Morocco”, with a morning in the medina.

The tour begins with the most important cultural and historical sites, including the oldest university and mosque in the world (Al Karaouine) and the Bou Inania medersa, plus the tanneries and the Nejjarine Fountain.

After lunch, we take you to the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish quarter (the Mellah), and the pottery cooperative.

In the late afternoon, we bring you up to one of Fes’ fortresses for a panoramic view over the medina. You stay at the same riad overnight.

After breakfast, we travel south via Midelt and Errachidia to the Merzouga desert. Your first stop is Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco”, before the route carries you through the Ziz Valley with glimpses of both the Middle and High Atlas.

We stop at the famous cedar forest — the largest in Morocco — to watch the Barbary apes. As you near Errachidia, you’ll notice the scenery begin to hint at the desert. After lunch in Midelt, you continue along the Ziz Valley, pausing for panoramic views.

We drive on to Erfoud and then Rissani, birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty — Morocco’s ruling royal family to this day.

In Merzouga, a mint tea welcomes you. Then ride a camel to watch the sunset from the highest dune in Morocco, and spend the night at our desert camp.

Your camel guide wakes you early to see the sunrise — it may be one of the most memorable of your life — before breakfast and a shower.

After a peaceful camel trek back to your departure point, take a last look at the beauty of the Erg Chebbi dunes, whose colours change with the light through the day. Meet your driver and head for the Tinghir and Todra Gorges, the highest and narrowest in Morocco, where you can walk the valley floor.

We then drive through the Dades Valley, with its magnificent sandcastle kasbahs and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey feet”. You stay in a riad in the middle of the gorge, dinner and breakfast included.

After breakfast, we drive through the Dades Valley to Kalaat M’Gouna and Ouarzazate. The route through the valley is called the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs — a great place to capture some of the best photos of your trip.

We stop in Kalaat M’Gouna, “the rose town”, to buy rosewater that will keep your linen smelling fresh for a long time. Then we continue to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”.

Lunch is served at the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah — the largest kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, well known as the backdrop of movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones.

We then cross the High Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), with a chance to visit the women’s cooperatives and learn how argan oil is made, before the tour ends at your hotel in Marrakech.
