Marrakech to Merzouga – 3 days, 2 nights – The best part of our holiday in Morocco
My friend and I took the 3-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert. Mohammed picked us up from our riad in his clean 4WD. This tour was the highlight of our eight-night stay in Morocco. Seeing the Todra Gorges and camping in the desert with Berber food and a music party was incredibly unique.
On the first day, we stayed at a spotless hotel in Dades. The hotel was very well equipped and great for relaxing after a long day.
Touring the desert from Marrakech to Erg Chebbi
We made use of this company for 3 days desert trip from Marrakech to Merzouga desert – Erg Chebbi dunes. We were picked up at 8:30 by our driver/guide, who looked after us well and did his utmost to show us the real Morocco.
We traveled across the stunning N Tichka Pass (2260 m) in the High Atlas Mountains. On the route to Dades Valley, we made many stops at the well-known Ait Ben Haddou Kasr Kasbah, the Roses Valley, Skoura hamlet, and the road of thousand Kasbahs, which offers countless picture chances.
Best 3 days tour Marrakech to Merzouga
We had a 3 days tour Marrakech to Merzouga desert. Since we were first-time visitors and did not want to rush, we chose to go on a personalized tour rather than a group one.
Our lovely hotel guide picked us up on time. We passed the High Atlas Mountains to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO world heritage site. It was a wondrous place to see on the way to the Sahara desert.
Our tour guide at the beginning was very informative. He is also very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his country, and we have come away with a much deeper understanding of Moroccan culture and history.
We also had our camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga together with our camel shepherd.
Everything was amazing: the colors of the scenery, the towns, the food, the artwork, the desert, the sky, everything was just breathtaking (especially the Sahara!). The camel ride in the dunes and the sandboarding were faultless!
