Program Itinerary of the 3-Day Desert Tour Fes to Marrakech
Fes » Azrou (Cedar forest) » Midelt » Erfoud » Merzouga (Night in Desert Camp) [467 Km]
Our driver collects you at your hotel or riad to begin your 3-day tour, driving south to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Along the way, we stop in the cedar forests to watch the Barbary apes in their natural habitat. As you travel over the Tizi n’Talghamt pass to Midelt and along the stunning Ziz Gorges, carved into volcanic rock, you get sweeping views across the Middle Atlas plateau. The closer you get to Errachidia, the more the scenery hints at the desert ahead.
After lunch, we continue along the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga. After a glass or two of mint tea, we store your bags in a secure room and you ride a camel to the Berber camp in the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes — the highest in North Africa. The camel ride takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, and Berber tents await you for your night in the desert.
The tents come with mattresses, covers, and pillows. After dinner, we gather around the evening fire and listen to traditional Berber drums beneath the stars. That ends the first day of your Fes to Marrakech desert tour.

Watch a stunning sunrise over the sea of dunes. After a tasty breakfast and a warm shower at the camp, we return to Merzouga by camel — or by 4×4 if you prefer.
Then we leave the Sahara behind and head for Tinghir — “the city of the mountain” in Tamazight — another stunning Berber town. You’ll be amazed by the striking contrast of the palm trees and the unique colours of the houses. This is where the landscape shows off its contrasts.
Our next stop is the Todra canyon, with rock walls towering over 200 m. After exploring this natural wonder, we head to the Dades Valley, a Berber region famous for its high-walled gorges and stunning views of the Atlas and the horizon. You spend the second evening in a riad — a touch of elegance for your experience.
Dades » Ouarzazate » Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah » Marrakech [315 Km]
On the final day, we cross the Dades Valley and the Valley of the Roses to reach Ouarzazate, where we visit the Kasbah of Taourirt.
About 25 km further on, we come to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting for blockbusters like the Oscar-winning Lawrence of Arabia, The Sheltering Sky, and Babel.
We then follow the road over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, and the breathtaking landscapes of the High Atlas bring us to Marrakech, the “Red City”, where you say goodbye to your guide.
