Is tap water safe for brushing teeth in Marrakech?

Tap water in Marrakech is chlorinated and generally considered safe for brushing your teeth, and most travellers do so without any problem. The bigger risk is drinking it in quantity, where the different mineral content and local microbes can upset a stomach unused to them.

To be cautious, especially in your first days or if you have a delicate stomach, use bottled water for brushing too — it’s cheap and removes all doubt. Rinsing and spitting is lower risk than swallowing.

For drinking, stick to bottled or properly filtered water throughout your trip, and be wary of ice in cheaper places. A reusable bottle with a good filter is an eco-friendly alternative to buying plastic.
