Is it rude to walk away while bargaining in Morocco?
No, walking away while bargaining in Morocco is not rude — it’s an expected and effective part of the negotiation, and sellers understand it as a normal move rather than an insult. Very often a better price is called out to you as you leave, which is exactly why the tactic works.
Do it politely, with a smile and a thank-you, rather than dismissively, and be prepared to actually keep walking if they don’t meet your number. If you circle back later, you’ve shown you’re serious, and the price usually improves.
The one courtesy is not to bargain enthusiastically and then walk away over a tiny gap on something you clearly wanted — that can feel like time-wasting. Otherwise, walking away is simply good bargaining, and no one takes offence.
