Can you report a scam to the tourist police in Morocco?

Yes, Morocco has a dedicated Brigade Touristique (tourist police) in the main tourist cities, and you can report a scam, theft or harassment to them. They operate in and around the medinas of Marrakech, Fes, Tangier and other visitor centres, often in plain clothes, and take complaints from tourists seriously because protecting the visitor economy matters to the authorities.

For anything urgent, the national police number is 19 in cities (177 for the Gendarmerie in rural areas), and your riad or hotel can help you call and translate. For a lost or stolen passport you’ll also want a police report for your embassy and insurer.

For minor souk hassle — an overcharging taxi or a pushy "guide" — reporting often isn’t worth the time, but simply mentioning the tourist police can defuse a situation. Keep your accommodation’s address and a photo of your passport on your phone so you can give clear details if you do report something.
