Is it illegal to take photos of police in Morocco?

You should not photograph police, military, checkpoints or government buildings in Morocco — while there isn’t always an explicit blanket law, doing so can get your photos deleted, your phone inspected, or you questioned, so it’s best avoided entirely. Officials take a dim view of being photographed, and it’s not worth the trouble.

The same caution applies to airports, borders, royal palaces and anything security-sensitive. If in doubt, don’t point your camera at it, and never argue if asked to delete an image.

Everyday street, market and landscape photography is fine (with the usual courtesy of asking before close-up portraits of people). Just keep officials, uniforms and security infrastructure out of your shots.
