Yes, carry your own toilet paper (and hand sanitiser) when travelling in rural Morocco, as many roadside stops, village toilets and basic facilities either charge for paper or have none, and some use the traditional water method instead. A small pack of tissues in your day bag saves a lot of awkward moments.

Public and café toilets in towns are usually fine, and mid-range accommodation is well equipped, but on desert routes, at rural stops and in small villages, supply is unreliable. Coins are also useful, since some attended toilets charge a couple of dirhams.

Hand sanitiser matters too, as soap isn’t guaranteed. Pack both in your daypack for travel days and you’ll never be caught out.
