Sahara & desert trips

Is a 3-day desert tour from Marrakech too rushed?

A 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga is not too rushed — it’s the classic, well-judged length that most travellers choose, giving you two nights out and enough time to reach the real Erg Chebbi dunes without endless driving each day. It’s the shortest trip that reaches the big Sahara dunes comfortably.

The rhythm is a driving day down through the Atlas and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, a middle day of gorges and desert with the camel trek and camp, and a return day. It’s full but not frantic, with proper stops at Ait Ben Haddou, the Todra gorge and more.

If you want a slower pace or a one-way finish in Fes, four days is even better and adds breathing room. But three days is the sweet spot for the classic Marrakech–Merzouga round trip, and it doesn’t feel like a blur.
