Our overnight Marrakech desert excursion to Fes typically begins at your lodging in Marrakech. On the way, we’ll make stops as often as time permits to admire the stunning panoramas from the best desert mountain range of North Africa: the High Atlas.
When we get to Ouarzazate, also known as the “Gate of the Sahara,” we’ll stop off at the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, situated in Ouarzazate province. It is an outstanding illustration of the architecture of the southern region of Morocco.
We’ll continue our journey toward Merzouga toward Skoura, an ancient fertile oasis surrounded by huge palm groves within the Draa-Tafilalet region located in the Atlas Mountains. Here, we’ll take in the magnificent Dades River and its splendid canyons.
The next stop is Rissani, the biggest market in the area. We’ll then go through Rissani to be successful in this part of the Merzouga desert. Camels are waiting for you on the edge of these golden dunes at Erg Chebbi. A stop in the middle of the dunes offers an opportunity to get stunning pictures of the sunset and participate in Sandboards in the wavy dunes of sand at Merzouga. Dinner, a dance (Berber drummers) in the fire pit before the night is a dream in a Berber-style tent, an oasis in the Sahara desert.
Then, we will get up early to enjoy one of the most breathtaking photographs you can see: the dawn on the dunes. After a wonderful time and having a typical breakfast in our camp, we’ll take the camels back towards our starting point, then switch the camels in the vehicle, and we’ll continue the tour towards Fes through Erfoud, the town that is awash with fossils and carvings in the stone.
Along the way, we’ll travel through the Ziz Valley and its palm trees, Errachidia, and Midelt, and we’ll be in the cedar forest to meet those famous wild Monkeys.
In the wake of the overnight Marrakech excursion through the desert to Fes and Fes, we’ll arrive in Fes in the afternoon. We will pick you up at your hotel, riad, or the nearest location. The end of our nighttime Marrakech desert tour and drive to Fes.
