Program Itinerary of the 6 Days Marrakech Desert Tour

Day 1: Marrakech » Telouet » Ait Benhaddou » Ouarzazate » Dades Gorges [325 km]

The private tour departing from Marrakech begins with a stunning view of the Atlas Mountains while we snake through the 2260m-high Tizi N’Tichka pass to the Unesco World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. It was added to the UNESCO list in 1987. Ait Ben Haddou is well-known for its big screen in films such as Gladiator (2000) and the well-known HBO show Game of Thrones (2013).

Our journey continues to Ouarzazate, fondly known as ‘The Gate to the Desert’, where we’ll explore the Atlas Film Studios and the Taourirt Kasbah. We then head towards the Valley of Roses, renowned for its annual festival. Our route takes us through the stunning Dades Gorges, where we’ll spend the night at traditional riads or hotels, offering a comfortable and hospitable stay, complete with a complimentary dinner and breakfast.

Day 2: Dades Gorges » Draa Valley » Rissani » Erg Chebbi Dunes (Merzouga) [269 km]

In this area, we’ll continue our six-day trip beginning in Marrakech and explore Todra Gorge, a lively, tight canyon that is a favourite among outdoor lovers. We’ll then drive through the Ziz Valley to reach Erfoud via Tinjdad, an oasis town renowned for its gate to the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes and recognized by its unique fossils and the companies that manufacture them.

When we are there, we will explore a nearby fossil manufacturing facility which produces craftsmen and home furniture made of fossils. After that, get ready for an exhilarating adventure as we drive through the vast expanse of the Sahara desert to reach Merzouga.

Then, at the end of the dunes with golden hues, you switch your vehicle with the Desert ships and camels to cruise through the dunes of the desert with experienced guides. A date will be followed by a stop to enjoy one of the most stunning sunset scenes as daylight diminishes and the sand’s colour changes as you sandboard.

Arriving at a well-equipped Merzouga Desert Camp, you’ll experience the comfort of sleeping in tents that resemble those used by the Berbers, the indigenous people of the region.

The evening will be remembered with a distinctive and traditional evening of starlight Berbere dinner, followed by tribal music (Drums) set around a desert campfire.

Day 3: Exploring Merzouga area & Visit nomad families [40 Km]

Today, the third day of our six-day trip, starting from Marrakech can be spent exploring the Merzouga desert. You’ll have the opportunity to “do your own thing” by hiking with camels or taking an SUV trip. We’ll also go to the Khamlia village, which is famous for its folk music.

Today, the 3rd day of our six-day trip departing from Marrakech can be spent exploring the Merzouga desert. It’s your opportunity to have the freedom to “do your own thing” and have the option of the camel trek or exploring the luxury of the 4×4. We’ll also stop by the Khamlia village, which is well-known for its folklore and Gnawa music.

We’ll continue our 4×4 adventure to an abandoned town known as Mefes with its lead mining sites. This town was and is the source of many minerals from the time of the French colonizers.

We can’t pass up the chance to experience the hospitality of a generous nomad family living in the dunes of the Merzouga Sahara Desert. We will spend the night at the Riad/Hotel in the Merzouga region.

Day 4: Merzouga » Ziz Valley » Azrou Cedar forest » Fes [467 km]

After breakfast in the hotel, go through Rissani and its souk, which is local to the largest marketplace in this region, and arrive at Midelt, located in Midelt in the Atlas Mountains via Ziz Valley and palm groves.

We can take a lunch break at an eatery in the area before heading towards Azrou Cedar Forest and the Barbary Apes. Then, we’ll continue to Fes, where we’ll spend the night in an accommodation in the area.

We’ll explore Ifrane city, which has magnificent architecture, lush gardens, and an immaculate town. It is also a perfect spot for ski enthusiasts due to its large ski resort, Mishlifen. Due to its outstanding features and location, Ifrane is known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.”

Day 5: Fes (Visit the city with a local guide) » Casablanca [295 km]

The sightseeing tour will begin with a local tour guide, who will show you one of the most ancient cities in Morocco, winding its streets and narrow alleyways.

Fes is called a Scientific city and hosts Fes University, the longest-running university on earth. It comprises three distinct areas: Fes el Bali (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981).

Fes-Jdid, or ‘new Fez’, is the oldest of the three areas, with over 8500 small alleys and streets backed by tall walls. This area is home to the Jewish quarter. In stark contrast, we have Ville Nouvelle, the most modern area of Fez, built during the French occupation. This diversity in architecture and history is what makes Fez a truly unique city.

The guided tour of Fes includes a visit to the Tanneries and the Attarine Museum, as well as the Moulay Idriss mausoleum. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a variety of cooperatives, each offering a unique insight into the local economy and products. The tour culminates in an amazing scenic view of the entire Medina in Fes.

After the tour and lunch are completed, we’ll head to Casablanca. We’ll spend the night and dinner in the largest capital city of Morocco according to population. It’s also regarded as the most economically viable city.

Day 6: Casablanca » Marrakesh [241 km]

Fantastic 6 Day trip from Marrakech to Erg Chebbi

Great experience with the Morocco Day Tour! We had a group of eight university students on a special trip that spent 6 days traveling via Fes, the Sahara Desert, Ait Ben Haddaou, Quarzazate, Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains, and Chechauen.

Our tour guide, Addi, was a treasure trove of knowledge about Morocco. His insights and stories added a rich layer to our journey, making it truly unforgettable. He ensured that we had the best possible experience, from the quality of our accommodation to the delicious local cuisine we savoured. We couldn’t recommend the Morocco Day Tour more highly.

6 Day Private Tour: Marrakech to Tangier (via Merzouga Desert)

There were two lads and two gals in my friend circle. Mohamed was easy to understand and empathize with, which was crucial for personalizing the trip. We were able to customize the trip to our exact specifications rapidly! It was a blessing that Ali could lead us through the 6-day desert tour.

Marrakech served as both the starting and ending points of our journey. On our trip, we spent one night in Dades Valley, two nights in the Sahara desert in Merzouga, one night in Fes, and one night in Chefchauen.

The driver made the six travel days fun with his fantastic music selections and witty quips. He also permitted us to halt and snap pictures at some of the route’s most striking locations.
