15 Days Morocco Tour from Tangier

We pick you up in Tangier when you arrive, and you spend the first half of the morning touring the city — “the door of Africa”, one of Morocco’s most fascinating and enigmatic places. Then we head towards Asilah, stopping at the Caves of Hercules.

Legend says the mythical Hercules rested here after finishing his twelve labours. At high tide, the cave’s Atlantic-facing entrance disappears under the sea — and the views are amazing.

You arrive in Asilah, a little seaside town that may be the most beautiful in northern Morocco, with a tiny medina of blue houses and colourful murals. You stay in a nice hotel.

We leave early after breakfast for Rabat, “the City of Gardens” and the administrative capital of Morocco.

The city blends the modern and the traditional, ringed by hills in shifting colours. With its green gardens, elegant boutiques, shops, and flowers, Rabat is a beautiful place to explore. You stay in a lovely hotel.

We continue along the Atlantic until we reach Casablanca, the country’s economic centre. You have the whole day to see this stunning city and its famous Hassan II Mosque — one of the biggest in the world, and one of the few that welcomes non-Muslim visitors. You stay in a lovely hotel.

We follow the breathtaking Atlantic coastline all the way to Essaouira, where you check into your hotel and have time to explore. This World Heritage city preserves the authenticity and charm of a place lost to time.

Its walled fortress is the last of its kind on the Atlantic beaches, where the Mediterranean world ends. The waters around the islands of Mogador wash into the bay — a paradise for windsurfers. You stay in a stunning riad.

Today is a free day to explore Marrakech, one of Morocco’s four royal cities, famous for its World Heritage sites and the renowned Jemaa el Fna square.

Walk through its distinct neighbourhoods — modern Gueliz, Hivernage, the Palmeraie, the Mellah (the old Jewish quarter) — or let us guide you through the medina’s winding streets to Jemaa el Fna, where musicians, jugglers, snake charmers, and street performers fill the square. The mix of sounds, scents, and flavours will light up your senses. You stay in a stunning riad.

Today you take a day trip to the famous Ouzoud waterfalls — 110 metres high, in the Province of Azilal in the Great Atlas. They are among the most beautiful falls in all of North Africa.

The region is painted in a range of beautiful colours, and around lunchtime the local monkeys come out to meet the visitors — and try to charm some food out of them.

After breakfast, we head towards Ait Benhaddou, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains and passing several Berber nomad communities along the way.

The breathtaking scenery frames the Kasbah of Telouet, one of the best preserved in Morocco. There’s time to tour the kasbah before taking the trail to the next one — the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, backdrop to more than 20 films, including Babel.

Your journey continues via Ouarzazate, the Valley of Roses, and the Dades Valley, where the famous Route of a Thousand Kasbahs begins in the gorges. Enjoy dinner at a charming hotel overlooking the Dades Valley.

After breakfast at the hotel, we travel to the Todra Gorges, where you can take a leisurely walk through the striking canyon, between walls rising more than 200 metres, before entering the desert through the Tafilalet palm groves.

Check into your hotel at the base of the dunes. Unwind, stroll across the beautiful sands of Erg Chebbi, and take in the stunning surroundings. After supper, you’ll savour a great Moroccan feast and spend the evening in a charming hotel.

After a delicious Moroccan breakfast, we climb into the 4×4 and set out across Erg Chebbi’s sand-filled desert. Along the way, you’ll learn how the area’s nomads live, discover a wild oasis hidden in the middle of the desert, and pass breathtaking scenery and little desert villages dotted with palm trees. In Khamlia, we stop for a delicious cup of tea and an amazing performance of Gnawa music by this community with roots in Mali.

Back at the hotel, our dromedaries are ready. You ride across the dunes for about an hour and a quarter to the heart of the desert, in time for a gorgeous sunset. There, beside the massive Great Dune, unwind in a comfortable nomad tent with drums, good food, and Moroccan tea.

We get up early to see the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes of the Moroccan Sahara, then ride the dromedaries back to the hotel.

After a shower and breakfast, we make our way to Rissani to explore what many consider Morocco’s most famous, traditional, and genuine souk — the largest in the south. Its stalls trade everything from food and handicrafts to animals.

We continue to Erfoud, a city famous for its fossils and the oldest gateway to the desert. Before reaching Midelt, we cross the breathtaking Ziz Valley, home to over 18,000 palms. You dine and spend the night in a lovely hotel.

After breakfast, we travel to Meknes and visit the renowned Roman ruins of Volubilis. Then we continue to Fes, where you can explore the city for the rest of the day. You stay at a delightful hotel.

Enjoy a whole day off to explore Fes, one of the imperial cities and often considered Morocco’s cultural and spiritual centre.

Its university is famous for Arabic and Islamic studies, and many Moroccan students begin their education here. Explore the city’s neighbourhoods on foot: Fes el-Jdid with the Mellah (the old Jewish quarter), the Ville Nouvelle (the French new town) in the northwest, and of course Fes el-Bali, the old city within the walls.

Wandering its winding lanes feels like traveling back in time — you’re greeted by potters, craftsmen, smiths, and donkeys carrying wares of every kind.

Fes is also famous for its tanning souks, where you can watch medieval-style craftsmen create the leather’s vivid colours. You stay in a charming riad.

Leave for Chefchaouen early in the morning. The name means “look at the horns” in Berber: this quaint town sits on the slopes of the Tisouka and Megou ranges in the Rif Mountains, whose peaks rise over the town like two horns. With little traffic and clean, pure air, the city invites you to slow down and take in its beauty and surroundings. You stay in a stunning riad.
